Visual Arts

We are so blessed to welcome your children to FWC Visual Arts Program!  One of our Core Beliefs for Visual Arts at Fort Worth Christian includes 1 Peter 4:10 which says, “We are called to use our gifts to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace.”

With this in mind, our Visual Arts Program Course Objectives strive to engage and motivate all students, no matter what age they are or the skill level they have.  Through the creative process of art and design, we help them to develop their artistic thoughts and skills so they can reach their highest potential artistically, academically, socially, and emotionally.
Art Students are encouraged to practice:

• Active planning
• Use of critical thinking skills and/or innovative problem solving skills, (which increases observation, perception, critical evaluation and response*)
• Creative design skills
• Collaboration skills (which increases social skills*)
• Art Elements and Principle of Designs (which increases art literacy)
• Specific art techniques (which increases art literacy)
• Cultural awareness through exploration; and
• Effective and creative communication skills (which increases creative expression*)
*Texas Education of Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)

At Fort Worth Christian, we know and have witnessed how these skills are essential for successful academics, college preparation, and life participation!

Our art students participate in our community by yearly entering art into The Local Truth, Goodness, and Beauty (TGB) Private School Art Competition as well as the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Art Competitions.  Many of our students have produced award-winning art in these competitions and enjoy the process of working toward developing their technical art skills.
Fort Worth Christian also produces a  yearly Fine Arts Christmas Cafe in December and an Art Exhibition in May where our art students volunteer as curators, hosts, and/or teachers to our parents and younger students.

God is so good to give us the ability to create and design and Fort Worth Christian is so grateful to be able to provide an outlet for our students which helps them grow and develop their God-given creative abilities.
