Cal Smallwood '98 – 2025 Fort Worth Christian Alumni of the Year

Cal Smallwood is a proud Fort Worth Christian alumnus, having attended FWC from Kindergarten through his graduation in 1998. A standout student-athlete, Cal graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1998 while excelling on the court and field, earning All-District honors in Basketball and All-State honors in Baseball.

After FWC, Cal attended Texas A&M University, where he earned both a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Taxation. As a Certified Public Accountant, he began his career with Deloitte in Dallas and now owns and operates Smallwood & Associates, PLLC, a CPA firm with offices in Plano and Colleyville.

Deeply appreciative of his time at FWC, Cal served on the Board of Trustees for nine years, including a term as Board Chairman. His leadership, service, and dedication have left a lasting impact on the school community.

Reflecting on his years as a student, Cal shares:

“At Fort Worth Christian, I was truly known, loved, and valued, and that fostered a level of confidence and perspective that set me up well for my lifetime. More importantly, FWC established a foundation in my walk with Christ that continues to this day.”

Cal’s love for Fort Worth Christian has only grown as a parent and alumni leader. He and his wife of 21 years, Sarah, are the proud parents of Savannah, a junior at FWC, and Connor, an 8th grader. Their family worships together at The Hills Church in Keller.

Throughout his journey, Cal has been especially shaped by the influence of teachers and mentors including John Anderson, Barbara Treat, Darren Edwards, and Christy Cate, whose guidance strengthened his relationship with Jesus and empowered him with a Biblical worldview.

Dr. Terry Rodgers, President and Head of School, shared:

“Cal’s faithful service and his support of the ministry of Fort Worth Christian have made a lasting impact on this community. He is a true example of what it means to live out our vision of faith, service, and leadership for Christ.”

Today, Cal continues to embody the mission of Fort Worth Christian through his faith, family, professional excellence, and service. The FWC community is honored to recognize him as the 2025 Alumni of the Year.
