Brad Leffler '92: 2018 Alumnus of the Year

Congratulations to Mr. Brad Leffler, Class of 1992, our Fort Worth Christian Alumnus of the Year for 2018!

Brad was chosen by way of a collaborative process from alumni, teachers, and current school leadership. In the late summer, nominations were sought via email to FWC Alumni, via email to current FWC faculty, and on all FWC social media channels. Over a dozen names were submitted by FWC alumni where they submitted their reason of why the nominee should be this year’s recipient. After school started, these nominations were then put before the entire FWC Leadership Team. Each member of the Leadership Team was given one vote and Brad was the overwhelming winner.

Brad married his wife, Kerith, in 1997, and they have three children: Kirsten (17), Katelyn (15) and Josh (11). Brad has worked for PwC since graduating from Baylor in 1996. He spent two years in the firm's national office in New Jersey as a senior manager from 2003-2005. He was admitted as a partner in 2008 and currently works as an audit partner serving private companies and US subsidiaries of foreign companies.

Brad is active in the community, serving various roles in the churches he has attended. He currently serves in the nursery and as a deacon at Northwest Bible Church in Dallas. He served on the board of Launchability from 2002 until 2018. Launchability provided Early Childhood Intervention services to children with developmental delays and employment placement for adults with cognitive disabilities. Brad championed a placement at PwC from Launchability.

Launchability merged with My Possibilities in 2018 and Brad was asked to continue on the combined board. My Possibilities provides first-of-its kind continuing education program for adults with cognitive disabilities.

Brad also serves on the accounting advisory board at Baylor University.

Brad transferred to FWC his Sophomore year. Brad was President of NHS during his Senior Year and also served as Captain of the Varsity Basketball Team where he was recognized as All-Conference Honorable Mention. He was also on the "A" Honor Roll, chosen as "Most Studious" and was Valedictorian of his Senior Class.

Brad commented on his time at FWC. “Fort Worth Christian was a great foundation for me. Having kids in high school, I am seeing from a different perspective the challenge of the high school years. I have so many great memories of friends and my time at FWC and the staff investing in me. I have great memories of the basketball team, Christian Schools Tournament and Glen Rose tournament and the positive impact Coach Scott Thannum had on me. I have great memories of struggling through Mrs. Felps' AP English and having to write a children's book. I have great memories of the baseball team and Coach John Anderson. I have great memories of Mrs. Stambaugh's accounting class. Twenty-six years later, I am still doing accounting! I have great memories of being sports editor for the "Talefeather", the school newspaper. I still remember us all worn out on a Disney shuttle after a full day at the parks on senior trip. But most importantly it set the foundation for my faith as I still remember chapels, Dr. Calvin's Bible class, lots of deep spiritual discussions, Monday night Bible studies and being baptized at one of those Bible studies. The school started me down the road to the unexpected joy of desperate dependence on Jesus Christ that I am trying to live out in my life. I am honored to be selected as alumnus of the year.”

During his senior year, Brad was also voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by his classmates. According to the one who nominated Brad for the Alumnus of the Year award, Brad’s classmate said, “Brad has always represented the qualities of faith, service, and leadership. His classmates of 1992 recognized this when we voted him ‘Most Likely to Succeed'. He is a man of faith and prayer. He leads with confidence in all areas of his life because he is confident in our God. He believes the Lord has given him life in order to make a difference in the world around him. So, not only does he seek to make a difference, he brings others alongside him to inspire and challenge them to make a difference as well.’

Because Brad embodies what it means to live a life of faith, service, and leadership for Christ, Fort Worth Christian School proudly recognizes Brad as the 2018 Alumnus of the Year.
