Becky Jeffrey Brooks '92: 2017 Alumna of the Year
- Alumni of the Year
- Class of 1990-1999
For over 50 years, Fort Worth Christian School has graduated individuals who portray God's love in relationships, sacrifices, and daily choices. We prepare our graduates to effectively communicate to large gatherings, in small groups, and one-on-one. Our graduates display respect for God and country, understanding the rights and responsibilities reflecting good citizenship.
The Alumni of the Year award is our chance to recognize those attributes and give honor to one individual who embodies the spirit of FWC, but more importantly who boldly, confidently, and enthusiastically represents Jesus in their community and in every sphere of influence where this individual is called by God to live.
When God loved the world so much that he sent his son Jesus to die for this world, he also loved the world so much that he assembles his followers each week so that they may worship Him and encourage one another. In a hostile world, where believers face challenges, discouragement, and every kind of pain and problem imaginable, God raises up individuals who speak for Him to strengthen the body of Christ. He raises up pastors who shepherd God's people. He raises up evangelists to bring more into the kingdom. And he raises up those with a special gift of exhortation who, by His Spirit, communicate effectively concerning the heart of God.
When I hear the name of our Alumni of the Year recipient, I hear people say that she is a bold example of the voice of God in the church. I hear people say she loves to laugh and through her heart-warming and transparent stories about her incredible family, she loves to bring people into the joy of God. This individual is a fresh voice in the church, in churches from all types of names and traditions, and they collectively say that when this individual leads them in a workshop, conference or lesson, they leave inspired by the Word of God.
We want our FWC graduates to not only know the Bible, but as 2 Timothy 3:16 says, we want every student and every graduate of Fort Worth Christian to know that "all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the God's people may be complete, equipped for every good work."
Our Alumni of the Year award recipient wholeheartedly believes in the power of the Scripture. She is a wonderful example of the impact of Colossians 3:16, " 'Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom"
She does this and honors the Lord, His church and by her well-lived example, she brings great honor to our school, Fort Worth Christian. The 2017 Fort Worth Christian School Alumna of the Year recipient is Becky Brooks.
Becky Jeffrey Brooks regularly speaks to churches around the country, encouraging women to lean into the Lord and His purpose as a reminder that His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
Becky is a 1992 graduate of Fort Worth Christian. Becky’s older sister, Kelly, and her two brothers also graduated from FWC.
Becky went on to graduate in 1996 from Abilene Christian University with 2 degrees, a BA in History and a BA in Communications.
While at ACU, Becky was active in Student Government, directed the student-led Spiritual Life Committee and was named in Who’s Who Among Students of American Universities and colleges. Her senior year, Becky was selected by fellow students as Miss ACU.
After graduating from ACU, Becky taught for 1 year at Abilene Cooper High School and then 2 years at Keller’s Hillwood Middle School. Becky taught classes in Public Speaking, Speech, Debate, and History.
Becky also worked 2 years at Big Brothers Big Sisters, speaking all over the DFW Metroplex and the State of Texas as a fundraiser and recruiter.
Becky will tell you that “she said the most confident YES to becoming the wife of Tony Brooks in 1999”. Becky began a career as a Mom in 2002. She and Tony have 4 children: son Payton; son Benjamin; daughter Eden; and daughter Shelby Grace.
Becky and a team of others at The Hills Church of North Richland Hills launched Navigating Motherhood in 2012 and continues to be a rapidly growing class that has reached thousands. Becky also writes and teaches this curriculum. She is exploring publishers to make this curriculum available to an even broader audience. With a speaking schedule already filling up for 2019, churches from around the country continue to contact Becky weekly to launch similar programs and to inspire women to trust more in the power of God’s Word. Becky and her family currently attend First Colleyville Church where she also teaches Navigating Motherhood.
Becky is also the daughter of former FWC board member, Morton Jeffrey and Suzy Jeffrey, former FWC elementary teacher. Once again, we proudly recognize Becky for her life of service to the Kingdom of God and to His church. We ask all of you to show your recognition for the FWC Alumna of the Year, Becky Brooks.
