- Class of 2000-2004
Meet Austin Hinrichsen, a proud Fort Worth Christian alumnus from the Class of 2020, who has traversed an inspiring path from his senior year at FWC to a dedicated career in nursing and military service. Austin's story is one of resilience, community, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
Embracing Community at FWC
Austin's journey with FWC began in his senior year of high school, a time typically defined by close-knit friendships and familiar surroundings. For Austin, however, it was a year of significant change. Moving to a new place and starting anew at FWC could have been daunting, but he found solace and support within the welcoming arms of the FWC community.
"What I loved most about FWC was the community's ability to welcome me when I first joined my senior year of high school," Austin recalls. "Transferring high schools as a senior is not typically the easiest of things to do, but FWC's ability to engage with me as a new member of the community allowed me to succeed as a student and athlete."
His involvement didn't stop there. Austin returned to FWC as the assistant boys and girls cross-country coach in the Fall of 2022 and 2023, where he helped guide the team to impressive victories, including the boys' 2023 XC TAPPS 5A District Championship and a strong showing at the State Championship.
Achieving Excellence at Baylor University
After graduating from FWC, Austin attended Baylor University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in December 2023. Reflecting on his college experience, Austin is full of praise for Baylor's vibrant community and enriching opportunities.
"Baylor provided me with a college campus that wasn't too small but had everything I could've ever wanted. I made lifelong friendships, witnessed incredible sporting feats, and led fellow students on unforgettable outdoor adventures," Austin shares. His leadership as an Outdoor Adventure Student Guide took him on backpacking trips across the Rocky Mountains and the Grand Canyon, where he also spread the word of God and His works.
Austin's hard work and dedication were recognized through his induction into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, a testament to his academic excellence.
Serving with Honor in the U.S. Navy
Upon graduating, Austin took his commitment to service a step further by accepting a commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy. His journey began at the Officer Development School (ODS) in Newport, Rhode Island, where he underwent rigorous training to prepare for his role as a Naval Officer. Now stationed at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA, Austin serves as a Registered Nurse, a vital member of the Nurse Corps.

His positive attitude and openness to diverse opinions created a fantastic learning environment," Austin fondly recalls.
Words of Wisdom for Future FWC Students
To those considering joining the FWC community, Austin offers heartfelt advice: "Take advantage of all the academic, athletic, and fine art opportunities you can. Get involved, and step out of your comfort zone. The relationships and friendships you build will be invaluable."
