Terry Drake, '78, was recently hired to strengthen our Cardinal Alumni Network

In our current strategic plan, Vision Forward, the Board of Trust is committed to strengthening our Alumni as valued and vital members of the school community who serve as ambassadors of the institution while actively supporting FWC. It is our goal to actively engage FWC alumni while building a strong network of graduates who are deeply connected to the school. We want to grow the network of 60+ years of Cardinal graduates united by a shared love for Christ and a common commitment to FWC’s Mission.

One step in this direction is the hiring of Terry Drake, '78, to help nurture our alumni relations. Drake is excited about his new role at FWC. "Our mission is to connect with our former students to preserve the rich history of Fort Worth Christian School." 

In recent years, several efforts have attempted to nurture relations with former Cardinal students:

• In the spring of 1999, prior to the global pandemic, we hosted our 1st Alumni Picnic in the Campus Center.
• in December of 1999, we hosted Alumni Chapel and reception for FWC grads still in college
• In 2020, we invested in a dynamic online platform to house our Cardinal Alumni Network
• in the spring of 2022, hosted "An Evening with Lance Barrow, '73" where Lance was presented the Distinguished Alumni Award

Drake recently announced intentions to increase our activity with alumni. Some of these initiatives include:

• More Consistent Alumni Newsletter Communication
• Curating more alumni stories to feature on our Cardinal Alumni Network online platform
• Alumni Career Event in the Fall of 2023 for our Upper School Students
• Alumni Gatherings
• Golf Tournaments
• Enhanced Homecoming Events
• Developing and growing a new Cardinal Alumni Council comprised of alumni representatives from every decade of our 60+ year history

In the fall of 2021, Terry Drake received the honor of our annual Alumni of the Year award. In her announcement about Terry, Dr. Misty Overman, FWC Head of School, said this about Mr. Drake. "Listening to him tell of the influence of FWC in his life, knowing he was poured into by the FWC community then, and now knowing he pours back into his community is truly a testament to the power of God’s plan.” In a special chapel in May of 2022, Dr. Overman interviewed Terry about his new role with Alumni Relations.

We encourage all Cardinal alumni to update their profile on the Cardinal Alumni Network, attend as many on-campus alumni events as possible and continue to partner with FWC to grow enrollment and participate in the Cardinal Education Foundation.
