As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17
Accountability breeds success. We strive as coaches to partner with parents, walk beside athletes, and create bonds of trust and mutual respect for each relationship.
While our Cardinal cross country athletes prepare and compete, we grow mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We honor God through showing self-discipline and dedication to the sport, constantly reminding ourselves to be grateful for the opportunity to use our bodies to improve and compete in a fashion that requires a form of delayed gratification.
We use scientific methods in our training programs to foster success and to reach our full potential. Further, each season builds on the one before. From 6th grade through the end of high school, the athletes’ training programs will have them improving between each season, avoiding any plateaus in progress.
Each athlete has a different personal starting point and personal goal. However, we collectively work together to help each other reach individual and team goals by promoting an environment where we encourage one another to persevere, especially when the circumstances foster pain and discomfort. Just as iron sharpens iron, accountability breeds success. We strive as coaches to partner with parents, walk beside each athlete, and create bonds of trust and mutual respect for each relationship.
We offer individualized approaches to teaching and coaching so that the athletes know that they are loved and cared for. Furthermore, as athletes connect more deeply with each other during shared experiences of training and racing, we encourage these relationships to become the building blocks for our Christ-centered community, personal growth, spiritual maturity, and broader perspectives. These experiences are fuel for Christian leadership and service. We are committed to the journey.
Our Cross Country athletes can always be seen running around campus during those early morning and HOT Texas summer days. This difficult training pays off as our Cardinal Cross Country athletes are conditioned to succeed! The Cross Country program at FWC has a rich history of family and community, cheering one another toward their personal best!
IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A CARDINAL!
