Art I is designed to expose students to a variety of 2D and 3D mediums with an emphasis on the elements of art and principles of design. Students will explore a variety of mediums that may include, but not limited to drawing, pastel, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, glass, and digital art.
Pre AP Art
Pre AP Art is a course designed for the serious art student who wishes to further explore art elements, design principles, art mediums, and advanced techniques. The Pre AP Art students will further explore media and sustained investigations in preparation for creating an AP portfolio. The variety of mediums that will be explored may include, but not limited to, ceramics, mosaic, paper mache, warm glass, polymer clay, graphite, colored pencil, pastel, watercolor, acrylic painting, and digital art.
AP Studio: Drawing Art, 2D Design, and 3D Design
AP Studio Art students are expected to perform at the freshman college level. Students must commit to a vigorous program in the creation of their AP portfolio. The portfolio must demonstrate exploration, revision, documentation, and sustained investigation. AP Studio Art Portfolios require significant commitment and accomplishment. Work outside the classroom is necessary and expected (approx. 6-10 hours per week).
