Hogan Nelson is currently an 8th Grader at Fort Worth Christian School in North Richland Hills, Texas

Hogan Nelson, 8th grader of north Fort Worth, recently competed in the RRQB Training AdvoCare Quarterback State Championship for the class of 2025. We are so proud that FWC's own Hogan Nelson won the 'QB State Champion of Texas' in the 8th grade division!

RRQB Training is a Christian football program that offers instruction and coaching outside of school. The Advocare QB Competition featured the top RRQB Training QB's in each grade level and consisted of various competition drills testing the players in a variety of different areas which were scored based on a pre-determined point system. Listen to the podcast below and hear a recording of the announcement of Hogan's amazing achievement!

At Fort Worth Christian, it is in our mission to see our students excel in and out of the classroom. RRQB's founder, Coach Ryan Roberts, shared these thoughts with Hogan's father, Curtis Nelson, who shared it with us. "Not only is Hogan a talented quarterback with a God-given ability to throw the football, but he is also, more importantly, a strong Christian leader who embodies what it means to exemplify Christ on and off the field."

Hogan's parents spoke about their son. "Hogan has a warm heart, is good-natured, and he responds with kindness to friends and family," said mom, Courtney Nelson. Curtis (pictured below when he was in 8th grade at FWC) added, "I feel like God truly blessed Hogan with his athletic abilities because he has big plans for him one day. Hogan truly likes the grind of doing what it takes every day to compete at a high level and win. He will always give his coaches and his teammates 100% effort." Both expressed appreciation for Hogan's many influences at Fort Worth Christian. "We thank all of Hogan’s FWC teachers and all of his coaches throughout the years for helping shape him into the young man he is becoming."

In the 12-minute Redbird Radio podcast interview below, Hogan visits with FWC Football Coach, Grant Davis. You will hear Hogan talk about his faith in Jesus, his competitive spirit, and the coaches who have had a great impact on his life.

We hope that Hogan's story inspires others to #LiveAGreatStory!
