Each year, millions of students sit for the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) . Throughout the nation, about 34,000 Commended Students are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2021 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 competition.

"Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," commented a spokesperson for NMSC. ''These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."

Fort Worth Christian School announces Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2020

We are pleased to announce the names of the two members of the class of 2020 who have been named this year’s Valedictorian and Salutatorian.  Each of these students has devoted countless long hours and a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication to their studies at FWC to receive this time-honored recognition. The valedictorian of a graduating class is the student who has the highest weighted grade point average. The salutatorian of a graduating class is the student who has the second-highest weighted grade point average.

This year’s salutatorian is Shayna Khanmohammed. Shayna has been a member of the FWC community for the past 14 years. She enrolled in Pre-Kindergarten and has two brothers, Asad and Zovin, who attended FWC. Asad graduated from FWC and was named salutatorian in 2014.  Shayna has challenged herself by taking some of the most difficult courses available at FWC.  During her time in the Upper School, she enrolled in 10 Advanced Placement courses.  Currently, she is completing AP U.S. Government & Politics, AP Macroeconomics, AP Biology, AP Calculus, and AP English Literature & Composition. Shayna has also been actively involved in many activities that FWC has to offer.  These have included serving as a Student Athletic Trainer, President of FWC’s National Honor Society, Captain of the Written portion of the Academic Team, and Vice President of the Senior Class. Shayna is in the process of deciding whether to attend the University of California, Irvine or Texas A&M University this Fall.

This year’s Valedictorian is Kyle Webb.  Kyle is a 13-year senior and began at FWC in Kindergarten.  Kyle is the oldest in his family and has a brother, Cade in 11th grade, and Sara in 7th grade.  Kyle has also challenged himself by enrolling in many of the most academically rigorous courses that FWC offers each year.  In his time at FWC he enrolled in 8 Advanced Placement Courses and currently is completing AP U.S. Government & Politics, AP Macroeconomics, AP Calculus, and AP English Literature & Composition. Kyle was named an AP Scholar with Honor and is a current member of the National Honor Society at FWC. During his time in the Upper School, he has been actively involved in the athletic program and has earned All-District Honors in Football (1st Team All-District Offensive Line; 2nd Team All-District, Defensive Line; Academic All-State ) and Tennis (2019 State Qualifier Boys Doubles and Academic All-State). Kyle is looking forward to attending Texas A&M University in the Fall.

Congratulations to both Shayna and Kyle for their hard work at FWC!
