John Feray, Chairman
John joined the Fort Worth Christian School Board of Trust in 2016 and currently serves as Chairman of the Board. John is a Chief Financial Officer for a Hispanic grocery store chain and is a CPA with over 28 years of experience working with public and private equity-owned companies. John is married to Leslie Feray and they have a son, Jack, who graduated from FWC in 2019 and is a freshman at the University of Texas, Austin, and a daughter, Libby, who attends Baylor University. “We chose FWC for the opportunity to have our son taught and mentored by a family of believers (teachers, coaches, and administrators) who really know and value him. In addition, we believe FWC’s academic curriculum and extracurricular activities prepared him well for life beyond high school.
Denise Herrold, Vice Chairman
Before joining the Board of Trust in 2014, Denise enjoyed serving in various areas on the FWC campus including being a Room Mom in the Elementary School, a volunteer in the Cardinal Store, and serving on the Parent Teacher Organization Board. Denise currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Trust, and as Chair of the Spiritual and Cultural Excellence Committee. Denise and her husband Dean have two boys – Walker, FWC Class of 2018 – currently a sophomore at ACU, and Dennis, Class of 2020. “We came initially so our boys would have a safe Christian environment in which they could thrive. We stayed because we found that and so much more as we fell in love with the people and the community.”
Cal Smallwood, Treasurer
Cal is a Fort Worth Christian alumnus and was valedictorian of the Class
of 1998. Cal owns a CPA practice in Colleyville and joined the Board of Trust in 2017. Currently, he serves as the chair of the Finance Committee. Cal is father to Savannah, fifth grade (Class of 2029), and Connor, second grade (Class of 2031). He and his wife, Sarah, decided to enroll Savannah in the spring semester of her second-grade school year after frustrations with the public-school approach to education. Since then, they have watched their children thrive in a much better learning environment and one in which they are truly known and loved.
Rachel Hale, Secretary
Rachel joined the Fort Worth Christian School Board of Trust in 2017. Rachel is an attorney and Human Resources consultant who frequently works with nonprofit organizations and nonprofit Boards and currently serves as the Chair of the School’s Governance Committee. As a graduate of Harding Academy and Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, she is passionate about the vital role of Christian education in training children to live a life of faith and service to the community and world at large. For fun, Rachel enjoys endurance sports and has finished multiple marathons and triathlons, including the New York City Marathon and five Half Ironman races.
Scott joined the Fort Worth Christian School Board of Trust in 2017 and currently serves as Chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee. Scott is a mechanical engineer for the Trane Company, and primarily serves clients in K-12 and Higher education markets. A graduate of California State University, Sacramento, Scott understands the vital role of Christian education in training children to live a life of faith and service to the community and world at large. Scott and his wife, Barbara, have two daughters who attend FWC; Haley – Class of 2019, now a freshman at Texas Christian University – and Payton, Class of 2022. “We chose FWC for the opportunity to further surround ourselves with faith-based parents and faculty, which not only helps our children deepen their relationship with Him, but also, us as parents.”
Tim joined the Fort Worth Christian School Board of Trust in 2017. Tim is an Optometrist and Vice President of Clinical Services for Vision Group, a LASIK and Cataract company with offices throughout the US. Tim is married to Cindy Giles, a successful real estate agent and their son Evan is a sophomore at FWC, Class of 2022. Tim and Cindy also have 3 older children as well as 5 grandchildren. They chose FWC for the opportunity to have their son taught and mentored by a family of believers (teachers, coaches, and administrators) who know, love, and value Evan.
Sarah joined the Fort Worth Christian School Board of Trust in August 2018 serves as Chair of the Development Committee. Sarah’s past work experience includes having served as Associate Director of Alumni Relations at her alma mater, Texas Christian University (TCU). Sarah and her husband Kyle have two children – Justin, Class of 2018 and now a sophomore at The University of Arkansas, and Grace, Class of 2022. Sarah and Kyle, chose FWC because they wanted a school to partner with them in teaching the truth of the gospel, as well as a biblical worldview in all areas—education, athletics, and extra-curricular. Sarah is passionate about helping students find their identity in Jesus Christ and claim their faith as their own.
Chris is a Fort Worth Christian alumnus, Class of 1994. Chris recently returned to the board after previously serving for six years from 2012 to 2018, during which time he served as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee. Chris has worked at HBK Capital Management in Dallas for over twenty years. Chris’s wife Kelly also attended FWC and is an alumna, Class of 1994. They have twin daughters, Kaitlyn and Kendall – who are both freshmen at FWC, Class of 2023, and a son, Matthew – who is in 6th grade, Class of 2026. Chris and Kelly had always dreamed of sending their children to Fort Worth Christian to experience the exceptional academic and spiritual education they received as students of the school.
Joe Don Ridgell
Joe Don joined the Fort Worth Christian School Board of Trust in 2018. Joe Don is an attorney specializing in healthcare law. He currently serves as Associate General Counsel at Air Medical Group Holdings. After graduating from Abilene Christian University, Joe Don received his juris doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law. Joe Don is committed to faith-based education with a Christian worldview. His wife, Jamie (Bankes) Ridgell is an alumna, Class of 1996. They have three children at FWC: Anna is in 8th grade – Class of 2024, Andrew is in 5th grade – Class of 2027, and Austin is in 2nd grade – Class of 2030.
Luke joined the Fort Worth Christian School Board of Trust in 2019 and currently serves as a member of the Finance Committee. Luke is an executive attorney and currently serves as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of CSW Industrials, Inc., a publicly-traded diversified manufacturing company. A graduate of Abilene Christian University and Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, Luke strongly believes in and advocates for Christian education around the world. Luke and his wife Jayci (Jenkins) Alverson (FWC alumna, Class of 1996) have two children at FWC, both of whom have attended FWC since kindergarten: Jillian, who is in 9th grade – Class of 2023; and Landon, who is in 6th grade – Class of 2026.
Stacey Pearson joined the Fort Worth Christian Board of Trust in 2019. He is the owner and operator of Pearson Air Construction. Stacey and his wife Paige have 3 children at FWC. Parker is in the Class of 2022, Emaline is in the Class of 2024, and Bowden is in the Class of 2027. They are very involved at school, at church, and in the community. Stacey is also the President of The Gregg Pearson Foundation, a local non-profit 501C3 organization, whose mission is to provide financial, spiritual, and emotional support to families and friends who are dealing with cancer and other acute illnesses. The GPF was started by Stacey and his sister Leslie in 2008 in honor of their older brother Gregg that passed away in 2003 from brain cancer. Stacey and Paige love FWC because of the opportunity it provides their kids to be surrounded by a loving environment of teachers and friends that help grow families spiritually and emotionally.
The Leadership Team at FWC, with the support of the Board of Trust and unified cooperation of our esteemed Faculty, meets together 2-3 times a month to pray, to discuss operational and staffing decisions, and to execute our bold Strategic Plan.
