Announcing our Next Head of School

Fort Worth Christian School’s Board of Trustees is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Terry Rodgers as FWC’s next President and Head of School, effective April 1, 2024.

A LETTER FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Dear FWC Family,

It is with great pleasure that the Fort Worth Christian School Board of Trustees welcomes Dr. Terry Rodgers as our next President and Head of School effective April 1, 2024.  As outlined in our community update on February 2, Dr. Rodgers was chosen from an extensive list of candidates following a thorough process led by our Search Committee and consultants from JobfitMatters.  Dr. Rodgers is deeply passionate about Christian education and is excited to bring his experience in teaching, administration, and organizational leadership to build upon FWC’s 65-year legacy.

Dr. Rodgers joins FWC from the Prestonwood Christian Academy School System located in Plano, Texas, where he has served for over 20 years and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing operations at PCA’s five campuses that serve more than 2,200 students.  Dr. Rodgers is a lifelong educator who began his career in education 30 years ago as a teacher and coach in Lubbock ISD.  He later became the Assistant Principal of Slaton High School and, in 2001, relocated to the DFW Metroplex to become the Assistant Principal of The Colony High School.  Two years later, he entered Christian education, joining a young Prestonwood Christian Academy in 2003 as its Upper School Principal, later assuming the role of Director of Co-Curricular Advancement.  Dr. Rodgers took on the additional Chief Operating Officer leadership responsibilities in 2021, and throughout his years of service with Prestonwood Christian Academy, has demonstrated exceptional leadership, contributing to the school’s tremendous growth, financial health, and reputation for excellence.

Dr. Rodgers is a life-long Texan, a native of Wichita Falls, and a resident of the DFW Metroplex for the last 20 years.  As such, Dr. Rodgers will be right at home in Northeast Tarrant County and is an excellent cultural fit for FWC.  Dr. Rodgers earned a Doctorate of Educational Leadership, a Masters in Educational Leadership, and a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences, all from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.  Terry met his wife Sally (a native of Weatherford, Texas) at Texas Tech, and they have been married for 29 years. They have two children in their early 20s, both graduates of Prestonwood Christian Academy.

During the search process, the Search Committee was fortunate to have evaluated several candidates who all satisfied the Opportunity Profile and Critical Leadership Benchmarks, but Dr. Rodgers’ broad experience in Christian education, spanning academics, fine arts, athletics, advancement/development and operations, as well as his demonstrated success in leading and developing high performing teams that drive excellence, was extremely impressive. Additionally, Terry’s deep Christian faith, biblical worldview, missional mindset, and spiritual leadership characteristics further distinguished him among the candidate slate – “known, loved, and valued” resonates deeply with Terry, and he embodies “faith, service, and leadership for Christ.”  As a result, the Search Committee unanimously recommended him for consideration by the Board of Trustees, who in turn voted unanimously to extend him an invitation to become FWC’s next President and Head of School.

As we officially conclude the search process, we are grateful for your prayers throughout these months and, with you, we praise God for the gift of His wisdom and provision shown to our school.  The Board would like to express our deep appreciation to Luke Alverson for his excellent leadership in chairing the Search Committee, as well as each member of the Search Committee, whose commitment of countless hours over the past nine months and prayerful dedication to a thorough vetting and interview process resulted in the selection of Dr. Rodgers.

We also want to thank Nick Hinrichsen and Kent Means for their faithful dedication to FWC in serving as Co-Interim Heads of School since last summer – we are deeply grateful to both men for their leadership in providing stability during this school year.  We anticipate a bright future ahead as Nick and Kent return to their existing leadership roles and we collectively turn to the important work of ensuring and facilitating a smooth transition of leadership.

We look forward to introducing you to Dr. Rodgers in the coming weeks and warmly welcoming him and Sally into the FWC community.  Please continue to pray with us for Terry, the FWC Leadership Team, faculty and staff, and the Board of Trustees as our work continues to faithfully steward the mission, vision, and values of FWC.

FWC Board of Trustees
