Welcome Dr. Allison Bearden Lower School Head
We are very pleased to announce Dr. Allison Bearden has been hired as the incoming Head of Lower School beginning June 2022. Dr. Bearden will succeed Mrs. Elizabeth Green, who is retiring after 37 years in education, including the past seven years as the Lower School Head at Fort Worth Christian.
We are grateful to our search committee, consisting of administrators, faculty, and parents, who worked over the last few months. We are also thankful to the other highly qualified candidates that went through the interview process. There was a tremendous amount of prayer and time invested by all involved in the search.
It was clear to all involved during the interview process, Allison is a relationship builder. She certainly knows instruction, curriculum, and best practices in education. But what excites me most about her is her love of children and her love of Christ.
While Dr. Bearden herself is a product of K-12 Christian education, she brings both teaching and administrative experience in a K-12 Christian school environment, specifically in the Lower School grades. She is coming to FWC from The Christian School District, a private Christian school in St. Charles County, Missouri serving over 550 students in grades PK-12. She is finishing her fourth year as the Pre-School and Elementary Principal, and prior to that, she served three years as Assistant Principal and seven years as a teacher at CSD. Her graduate-level studies include educational leadership and working with adult learners. She is uniquely qualified to lead both our students and our teachers.
Dr. Bearden brings a commitment to the development of our younger learners. She says:
“It is at the preschool and elementary level that we have the unique opportunity to be the first to foster a love for learning, an understanding of who Jesus is, and a desire to learn more about Him and his creation. This level is truly a pivotal and foundational time. As a K-12 Christian school alumna, I understand on a deeply personal level the crucial part that Christian education plays in the development of the whole child. In our current culture, I feel strongly that it has never been more important for Christian schools to not only exist, but to thrive. Christian education leadership is a unique, special, and critical calling, and I am honored to join Fort Worth Christian in its pursuit of furthering the Kingdom.”
Some of the comments our committee members said of Dr. Bearden:
“Allison is very easy to talk to! She is very personable and comes with experience in a Lower School. She focused many of her answers around her relationship with Jesus.”
“I think her experience, specifically in elementary, is a plus. Her experience with curriculum writing, shifting teaching methods, and teacher collaboration are all things that could help us in areas we need to grow.”
“She also seamlessly weaves in her relationship with Christ in a lot of what she was saying.”
“I think Allison is an absolute gem. Her background, proven success in a K-5 Christian-centered school, and obvious intentional mission are enviable.”
“I loved her ideas and administrative methods. I think she is fresh and new, but also would fit right along with our established practices and curriculum.”
Dr. Bearden has two children, soon to be three-year-old Easton and two-year-old Emersyn. We are so excited God has answered our prayers and brought Allison and her beautiful children to join our FWC family. I look forward to you hearing more from her before she officially starts this summer.
