New Facilities Update - Phase One

Since becoming President of Fort Worth Christian School in May of 2009, I have witnessed the unwavering commitment of the Board of Trustees to enhance every aspect of the school. This commitment flows from a desire to seek the Lord’s guidance and to be bold in following His call of excellence for FWC. Through strategic planning, He has blessed our efforts in several areas over the past two years.

First and foremost, we are committed to provide a stronger spiritual emphasis at FWC.

  • Our spiritual and family culture is an attribute that sets FWC apart and this is intentional.
  • Our faculty continues to love our kids with the love of Christ and shows this love in caring ways every day.
  • We offer our students opportunities for greater Christian service in our local community and abroad.
  • This year, we provided hands-on mission opportunities for our students in Fort Worth, Houston, South Texas, Oklahoma, Central America, South America, and Asia.
  • Students from elementary to high school are gaining a worldview and learning to share their faith far beyond our own campus.
  • We created the position of “Director of Spiritual Life” for FWC and hired Clint Rhodes to serve in this role. He will join us full-time in August 2011.
Second, FWC is committed to creating a culture that supports and reinforces an innovative student learning environment as a part of our broader commitment to academic excellence.

  • This year we provided Apple MacBooks for each high school student, expanding their academic capability to a 24/7 classroom.
  • We will include all middle school students in this program in the coming school year.
  • iPads will be integrated into the elementary classrooms this year to enable additional learning opportunities and challenges for our students.
  • We are committed to keeping our student/teacher ratio low, providing a nurturing and personal classroom environment.
  • Our graduates are well prepared as they compete for acceptance to top-tier universities across the nation.
Third, looking to the future, our Board of Trustees developed a course of action to improve and expand our campus facilities. This plan is based on our need to provide an exceptional spiritual and academic environment for all students at FWC for many years to come.

  • We assessed our current facilities for long-term use.
  • Guidelines were established to manage controlled student population growth.
  • Enrollment trends were reviewed to project future facility needs for the campus.
  • A long-term master facilities plan was developed to best utilize our space and set priorities for future construction and renovations. (Click here for the link.)
This spring more than 300 of our friends and family participated in an independent feasibility study for Phase One of the master plan. Based on the results of that study, a generous initial gift from an anonymous contributor, and much thought and prayer, the Board of Trustees has approved moving forward with Phase One to address emerging facility needs.

  • The first priority of renovating the current administrative offices in the high school building will accommodate additional course offerings as well as our growing student population.
  • The next step is to begin the construction of an administration building and admissions center as part of a new chapel and fine arts complex.
  • Concurrently, we will proceed with early preparations for a capital campaign to construct the chapel for daily devotionals, student performances, and special events. This fine arts complex will also include classrooms for vocal and instrumental music along with theatrical instruction and video production. The silent phase of the campaign is underway, with plans for the public phase to be launched in the fall.
A page on our website has been created to keep you updated on the progress and to answer questions you might have in the coming days and months. Please use this link to access the page. You can also submit questions to faq@fwc.org. We will post answers on our website periodically.

FWC is God’s school. God calls us to work together for His glory, and you are a very important part of this plan. We ask for your prayers and support as there is much work ahead to accomplish what we believe is His calling for FWC.

For the kids,
