Fort Worth Christian School

Recognizing that not only is Fort Worth Christian School different by design, but so are her students, the faculty seek to educate the whole student; therefore, academics, the arts, and athletics all find a place in the curriculum. Regardless of the subject or activity, teachers instruct with a Christian perspective, helping students to develop character and talents to be used to bring God glory and serve others.

ACADEMICS
High school students follow a modified traditional schedule (see the Academic Services page for an explanation). Students are required to have 30 credits for graduation. The specific credit requirements are listed in the chart below. In addition, students may receive up to 35 college semester hours concurrent with high school credits in Bible, English, History, Math, and Spanish through Dual-Credit classes.

CREDIT REQUIRMENTS

Beginning with the Class of 2012, four math credits will be required. Beginning with the Class of 2011, four science credits will be required.

COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE
Each year, 100% of our graduates are accepted into colleges and universities to further their education. Most receive scholarships, with a total of over two million dollars awarded to each graduating class.

SPIRITUAL LIFE
In addition to daily Bible classes, students attend a daily chapel service under the direction of the Campus Minister. A wide range of Bible classes are offered, including Dual Credit elective, online (for juniors), and Home and Family Living (for seniors). Students are provided with opportunities to do community service throughout the year. Believing that all of one’s life should bring glory to God, regardless of the class or activity, teachers view their students and their subjects with a Christian perspective.

ENRICHMENT
Students are presented with many opportunities for additional curricular and extracurricular activities. Advanced Placement (AP) courses are presently offered in English, History, Math, Science, and Computer Science. Pre-AP courses are offered in every discipline, as well. Students also publish a yearbook, The Cardinal, and a newspaper, Bird’s Eye View. Student government consists of Student Council officers and class representatives from each grade level. National Honor Society members are selected from the student body based on grades and citizenship. Cheerleaders, selected by teachers, students, and NCA staff, contribute to school spirit. National and statewide academic competitions take place in the spring, offering students an opportunity to compete in various academic and artistic areas. Field trips take students to various nearby sites such as the Kimbell and Dallas Museums of Art, Bass Hall, and Medieval Times. Trips to other countries take place every other year during spring break.

ATHLETICS
Fort Worth Christian School is a member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools and regularly competes with local and out-of-town schools. Everyone is expected to adhere to a Code of Conduct whether participant or fan. Several graduates receive athletic scholarships at major colleges and universities.
