The elementary school Spelling Bee took place on January 26, 2011, at 9:00 am in the multi-purpose room. Sixteen students from the third, fourth and fifth grades advanced to the school bee by winning their classroom bees in December.
After a practice round and 74 incredibly difficult words, Bryn Tubb, a fifth grader in Mrs. Harris's homeroom, was declared the champion speller. Daphne Russell, a fourth grader from Mrs. Miller's homeroom, was runner-up. Both students will be treated to a special lunch date with Mrs. Jennings, our elementary principal. Bryn Tubb will move on to the next level of competition which is the "Area 15 Bee for Private Schools" to be held at Bethesda Christian School on Wednesday, February 23 at 9:30 am. We are extremely proud of Bryn and Daphne, as well as all the students who chose to compete.
