Pre-Kindergarten students have a natural curiosity and love for learning. Our certified teachers know how to channel this energy in positive ways to encourage academic growth. Our classrooms are beautifully equipped with many age appropriate learning activities. Since development is so varied at this level, students are grouped by age.
ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL
Students should arrive at school between 8:00 and 8:15 a.m. Teachers are in their rooms at this time. Formal instruction concludes at 2:40 p.m.
ACADEMIC
We provide for all areas of a child’s development: physical, social, cognitive and spiritual. Our curriculum has a weekly theme, letter of the alphabet, mathematical concept and Bible lesson. We encourage the children to explore with a variety of activities that are developmentally appropriate.
ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES
Pre-Kindergarten students attend Music, Library, Spanish and Physical Education classes weekly. We schedule frequent “in-house” field trips with science experiments, guest speakers from the community and a petting zoo.
LUNCHES
Pre-Kindergarten students are encouraged to bring lunches from home. Hot lunches are available in our cafeteria. Menus are sent home at the beginning of each month. An account may be set up in the cafeteria, so that students will not have to bring money to school.
PARENT COMMUNICATION
At Fort Worth Christian we are concerned about keeping our parents informed. Friday Newsletters are sent home each week. This lets parents know what their children are learning and what is planned for the next week. Progress Reports are sent home at the end of each nine-week period.
DISCIPLINE
We expect students to follow the Golden Rule. Our students are encouraged to develop skills in cooperation, following instructions, respecting others and accepting responsibility for their own behavior. Our teachers promote appropriate behavior with a classroom discipline plan, including encouragement and praise. Students who are disruptive and do not show improvement will be asked to find educational alternatives.
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE
Childcare is available in the elementary building from 6:15-8:00 a.m. and from 2:40-6:15 p.m. each day. The cost for this service is not included in our tuition.
